Day Twelve: A Plan, A Rocky-Style Training Session, and the Epic Battle

Yeah, I went inactive for a while it seems, I don't know what happened, but here I am again, with Day 12!

I analyzed Juan's team on Bulbapedia again, and devised as good a plan as I can. I won't be able to get away with him not using Rain Dance when he sends out the Whiscash, so I'll have to stall just long enough so it won't count for anything. I'll send out Leviathan first, which will resist its Water Pulse, be immune to its Earthquake, and be able to use Dive to do decent damage(or Dragon Rage if that works better). Leviathan can also take out Juan's Crawdaunt, Luvdisc, and Sealeo with Thunderbolt(Fugly will be used too if needed, using Shock Wave). Darwin will also be useful, and I might actually send him out once the Whiscash is down, so I can get Rollout started. I'm gonna probably have Sparx sit this one out, because the Kingdra has Ice Beam. As far as the Kingdra, it has Double Team and Rest, and will be a pain, but for this problem, I'll likely rely on Fugly's Shock Wave. It's a loose plan, but it's what I've got to work with.

But first I've gotta train. I upped Darwin to lv 50 first, because he seems to be one of my best walls. I've seen him survive Self-Destructs and super-effective attacks, and I need that kind of defense for this battle. On Route 133, I fished and caught a lv 35 Sharpedo, which I nicknamed "Bruce"(I know I already used this name, but it's a different reference, plus that Bruce is dead).

Due to a lack of patience and a slight sense of security in the fact that his Pokemon couldn't do super-effective hits to my guys either, I decided to head to Juan after I got Leviathan to lv 49. He sent out Luvdisc first, a shock to me since I figured Whiscash would be his setup Pokemon due to Rain Dance, but it was a pleasant surprise. Leviathan used Thunderbolt, got it down to the red, and then he used a Hyper Potion, getting that out of the way so he won't use it on something useful. During that turn I used Flamethrower to conserve Thunderbolt's PP, then used Thunderbolt to finish off the Luvdisc. Then he sent the Whiscash out. He used Rain Dance early on, and his Water Pulse confused me and made me have to use a Hyper Potion of my own(which is fine, I had accumulated 10 of them anyhow), and conveniently, his Rain Dance wore out on the turn I finished him off with a Dragon Rage. Then his Sealeo came out. This is the one I wanted to switch to Darwin on, so I swapped Leviathan for Dazy, who was knocked out by Sealeo's Aurora Beam, Arceus bless his soul, and then Darwin came out. He used Defense Curl, to power up his Rollout. After 2 turns of Rollout, the Sealeo died, and Darwin took minimal damage. The Crawdaunt came out, but Darwin's 3rd-turn Rollout(still continuing from Sealeo's death) knocked it out in a single hit. And so, Juan only has his Kingdra left, and Darwin is on his 4th turn of Rollout. Kingdra uses Double Team....but it's for nothing! Darwin lands the 4th turn Rollout and takes down Kingdra in a single hit! And with that, I got my Rain Badge, and the TM for Water Pulse.

I released Dazy and withdrew U-Boat, and taught him Waterfall and Rock Smash so I could navigate Victory Road when I get there. Unfortunately, a small snafu has occurred. I have no Pokemon left that can learn Flash, and no Pokemon I will encounter can learn it either. So that part of Victory Road will be difficult.

When I got to Ever Grande City, I whipped out my Super Rod and encountered a lv 35 Corsola, but unfortunately Sparx killed it. Though to be fair, that Corsola just wouldn't stay in the damn Pokeball. But no huge loss, I think I have enough Water-types for the Elite Four, especially when you consider the fact that the Champion is a Water trainer.

I went inside Victory Road, and the first Pokemon I encountered was a lv 40 Hariyama...and I caught him!!! I nicknamed it "FatBastard", and that is the last Pokemon I can have for my Nuzlocke!

I took it to the Move Tutor to teach it Vital Throw so it was have a decent Fighting move, and I gave it the TM for Facade, since its Ability was Guts. So should FatBastard get Poisoned or whatever, he'll have an attack with 210 power. So that's a nice calm way to conclude Day Twelve.

Day Eleven: Sky Pillar and Some Training

Pardon the inactivity, I got distracted with a bunch of stuff.

I started today in Sky Pillar, and caught a lv 34 Golbat(nicknamed "Dracula"). I got Rayquaza to end the Groudon/Kyogre dispute, and then I used Darwin to clear out the trainers in Sootopolis Gym. I also deposited Raphael and withdrew Dracula, because Raphael would possibly have use later but not in a Water gym like this one.

And that is how I concluded Day Eleven. A bit of a let-down, I know, but I don't have much for a Water gym. I looked up Juan on Bulbapedia, and the best way I could go about this would be to knock out his Wishcash before it can use Rain Dance, and then his Kingdra cannot benefit from its Swift Swim ability, so my Sparx could outspeed it and deliver a powerful Dragonbreath(or Dragon Claw if it learns it along the way). But I have no Grass attack on the 4 guys I am actually relying on(Leviathan, Sparx, Fugly, and Darwin), which makes that difficult. I need to acquire TM19 Giga Drain if I want to make that happen. Unfortunately, I need to show a girl a Grass-type Pokemon to get that, of which I have none. So that is a dead-end.

You know how much I miss Trip!!?

Day Ten: Mossdeep Gym and Pacifidlog Town

I started today by training Sparx in the Mossdeep Gym. Unwanted died in there, which is fine, he was just a decoy Pokemon anyhow.  I replaced him with Jellybelly. I then took out all the trainers on Route 125 for further training, and revisited some of the people in my Match Call. Sparx evolved into a Vibrava during this training, learning Dragnbreath as well. And I gave him the Dig TM so he'd have a Ground attack. I know if I postponed his evolution he'd have learned Dig naturally, but I didn't feel like waiting that long, I wanted a Vibrava.

Then while training in Mt. Pyre, I got Sparx to evolve yet again, into a Flygon. It was about that time when I realized I should probably get that gym over with.

So Sparx and Leviathan took on Tate & Liz. They got pretty defensive, but let's just say thank Arceus for Dragon Rage, am I right? I am.

At the Space Center, I teamed up with Steven to chase off Team Magma. Again. You know, you wouldn't think an organization whose plans are frequently foiled by ten-year-olds could last this long. The only Pokemon I had to use was Fugly, but Steven lost his Metang near the end and had to bring out his Aggron...which knew Thunder...which was useful against Crobat...so yay...

After I got the HM for Dive, I taught it to Leviathan(after getting rid of Surf since Fugly already knew it) and headed down Route 127 but did not run into any Pokemon before I made it to the Seafloor Cavern, so I can catch one back there a little later. In Seafloor Cavern, however, I caught a lv31 Zubat(nicknamed "Alfred"). I continued through and fought the Team Aqua leader, whose Crobat was a big fan of confusing my team. Jellybelly was lost, but, hey, that's what decoys are for. I replaced Jellybelly with Dazy as my next decoy. Shut up, I'm not that bad a person.

I arrived in Sootopolis, took out my Super Rod, and caught me a lv37 Gyarados(nicknamed "Sadist"). So that could come in handy a little later(though hopefully Leviathan never dies). I went into the Cave of Origin and caught a lv34 Golbat(nicknamed "Edward").

Underwater, I killed the first Pokemon I encountered, a Clamperl. I play on an emulator, so I wouldn't have been able to evolve it, so it was useless to me. And on Route 126, I killed the first Pokemon there as well, a lv15 Tentacool. I'm just so sick of those things!

While surfing towards Pacifidlog Town, I got back on Route 127, took out my Super Rod, and caught a lv30 Sharpedo(nicknamed "U-Boat"). On Route 128, I caught a lv39 Wailmer(nicknamed "Beached") using the Super Rod.  And on Route 129, I killed a Wingull(I'm getting sick of them too. Why the hell is all of this region on water? I encountered nothing on Route 130, and on Route 131 I killed another Wingull. On arriving in Pacifidlog Town, I concluded Day Ten.

Day Nine: Magma Hideout, Aqua Hideout, and Shoal Cave

I started today off by heading to the Magma Hideout after getting the Magma Emblem yesterday. I immediately caught a lv28 Torkoal(nicknamed "Raphael"). After defeating Team Magma, I used my Good Rod to catch a lv19 Magikarp(nicknamed "Skulkraken" after Gyarados's name in the Red/Blue Beta) on Route 122.

Then I went through the Aqua Hideout. I learned that a lv30 Torkoal can withstand a lv30 Electrode's Selfdestruct. So that was nice. I taught Fugly Shock Wave to help me get through this area. He's been making good use of it so far.

On Route 124, I caught a lv29 Wingull(nicknamed "Unwanted"), and in Shoal Cave I caught a lv30 Spheal(nicknamed "The Clap").

While training south of Mt. Pyre, both Big Bad and Muppet gave their lives in order to preserve the lives of Raphael and Fugly. They will be greatly missed, especially considering the fact that the typing of the upcoming gym is Psychic. I figured now was the time to withdraw my Trump Card; I'm talking of course about Sparx, my lovely Trapinch!

I caught a lv33 Wailmer(nicknamed "Willy") using the Super Rod I got in Mossdeep City. After that, I concluded Day Nine.

Day Eight: Fortree Gym and Mt. Pyre

I started the day by using Leviathan to utterly obliterate Winona at the Fortree Gym. So that was nice.

I then went straight to Mt. Pyre, where I caught a lv27 Shuppet(nicknamed "Muppet"). I used Leviathan to chase Team Aqua out, used a Rare Candy I found there to evolve Fugly into a Pelipper, and concluded Day Eight there.

Day Seven: More Training

I spent the day leveling up, mostly Leviathan.

I caught a lv25 Mightyena(nicknamed "Big Bad") on Route 120, and a lv27 Wingull(nicknamed "Fugly") on Route 121.

In training, Freakfish and InsanityII died. I got Leviathan to lv40, and taught him Flamethrower. Between that, Thunderbolt, Surf, and Dragon Rage, he TOTALLY makes uses of his Attack stat. And that concluded Day Seven. I was busy, OKAY!?

Day Six: The Weather Institute

Started the day off pretty poorly, while revisiting some trainers registered in Match Call, Medicinal had to be sacrificed for the survival of the rest of the team.

Leviathan single-handedly chased Team Aqua out of the Weather Institute(well, in a Double Battle, Darwin helped too) using his Thunderbolt. That's a confidence booster for the upcoming Flying gym. The Castform I got as my reward, however, had to be released, as Medicinal was already captured on that same route. *sigh*

On the way to the next town, May came speeding up on her bicycle, challenging me to a match. Leviathan once again acted like the Tiger-blooded Adonis he is and beat May's team into submission. I love Dragon Rage.

On the way to Fortree a trainer was apparently hiding behind a tree and surprised me, and as a result, Poisonfish died at the hands of his Manectric, which is fine really, I have 2 others anyhow. My team does seem to have a high level of weakness to Electric types, which is something I should take care of. Leviathan would not be able to hold his own in that area, I don't think.

Once I reached Fortree, I decided to conclude Day Six of my Nuzlocke Challenge.
